What does the two-row ProMaster ratio tell us about RVs?

When COVID hit, a growing trend of turning commercial vans into recreational vehicles took off; and the ProMaster, Europe’s #1 van for making RVs at the time, was an excellent fit. It had front wheel drive for year-round traction in the United States, and that also meant it was easier to modify, as the box was mainly just that—a big box.

One would think the ideal RV vehicle for many would be a ProMaster with two rows of seats, but it turns out that only 266 two-row ProMasters were sold in the United States from 2021 to 2024 (they were available for the 2022-24 model years).

It’s possible that those wishing to convert RVs simply didn’t want another two seats—after all, they’d be installing more seats anyway. The second row would likely be better for teams of plumbers and other tradespeople. The Winnebago Travato added four seats to the ProMaster in the “living area,” but these were, as one might expect, around a table.

In any case, surprisingly few ProMasters were made with dual-row seating.
