According to the Detroit Free Press, Stellantis is shedding more union jobs at over twenty facilities, including Sterling Heights (Ram), Warren (Wagoneer), Detroit Assembly (Grand Cherokee, Durango), Toledo (Wrangler/Gladiator), the Chelsea Proving Grounds, and the Chrysler Technology Center.
The deal would provide employees of at least one year seniority with a single payment and six months of medical benefits (not including dental). Management must approve each buyout. Some people can leave after a seven day period, while others are to remain until September 30.
Stellantis has cut deeply under past CEO Carlos Tavares, but like many companies, appears to be preparing for a recession. Tavares actually went through each facility to cut every possible job.

David Zatz started what was to become the world’s biggest, most comprehensive Mopar site in 1994 as he pursued a career in organizational research and change. After a chemo-induced break, during which he wrote car books covering Vipers, minivans, and Jeeps, he returned with Patrick Rall to create StellPower.com for daily news, and to set up MoTales for mo’ tales.
David Zatz has around 30 years of experience in covering Chrysler/Mopar news and history, and most recently wrote Century of Chrysler, a 100-year retrospective on the Chrysler marque.
