I believe that this is the first video showing a new 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack battery electric vehicle racing against a Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack with the 392 cubic inch Hemi. This video was posted to Instagram by Randall_ModFX and in addition to showing the 8th mile drag race, we get a look at the resulting time slip.
The video begins as the two Dodge Chargers stage at the starting line, but when the green lights drop, the new Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack BEV doesn’t move. This was the driver’s first track pass in the car, so he was still learning the launch process and as a result, the EV gives the Hemi car a head start of nearly a second. When the two cars pass the camera around half-track, the Hemi-powered car is more than a car length ahead, but as the two hit the 8th mile finish line – the EV gets the win light.
On the timeslip, we see that the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack ran a 7.57 at 94.9 miles per hour on the driver’s first time down the track in this car.
The 392 Hemi car turned in an 8.65 at 86.5 miles per hour, which was nearly enough to get the win due to the reaction time of the EV, but in the end, the new Charger Daytona Scat Pack got the win.
It should be noted that this Instagram account also has a video of the Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack racing a Tesla Model 3 Performance, and while we don’t see the timeslip, the Dodge EV gets the win light in that race, too.
