This week, the NHTSA announced numerous Ford recalls and none from Stellantis or General Motors.
The 2015-17 Lincoln Navigator’s exterior mirror lights may cause fires, while Ford Mavericks may have dark instrument panels (2022-23), have the brake lights go on when they should not (2022), or lose power because their battery voltage dropped (2022). In addition, the 2021-22 Mach E’s high voltage battery connection may overheat, while the 2022-24 F-150 Lightning’s high voltage battery may short circuit.
Trailer brakes may fail on the 2021-22 F-150, as well as the 2022 Expedition, Maverick, Navigator, and “Super Duty” pickups from F-250 to F-550. Speaking of pickups, the 2023 F-250 through F-450 rearview camera may show the wrong image. Finally, software errors may cause “loss of drive power” on the 2022 Escape, 2022-24 Maverick, and 2021-22 Corsair. Oh, wait, there’s one more—the 2021-22 Ecosport may driving power because the axle shaft disconnects.
Overall, a busy week for Ford shaping up to be a very busy month for Ford dealers, but German automakers joined the American company for a few recalls as well. The Volkswagen Atlas (2024-25) may have loose engine covers which then melt and start a fire. Volkswagen’s Audi had a charging unit failure on its 2024-25 Q4 E-Trons, the same failure occurring on the 2024 ID.4. Over at Mercedes, a decent number of AMG cars (GLC, GT, S, and SL, from 2023 through 2025) could lose drive power due to a software error. Finally, 2024 Sprinters may lose their parking brakes.
