Blazer SS vs Wagoneer S: Comparing two electric crossovers

While it’s smaller and less luxurious than the Jeep Wagoneer S, the Chevrolet Blazer SS will be at dealerships soon, fostering comparisons. Buyers can find 303 miles of range with the new GM, which sports an Ultium battery that can be repaired after a crash.

Acceleration using the “Wide Open Watts” mode is similar to that of the Wagoneer S—3.4 seconds, thanks to 615 horsepower motors with 650 pound-feet of torque. Like the Wagoneer S, the Blazer is relatively low to the ground, defying comparisons to original Blazers. The SS has 22-inch wheels, Brembo brakes up front, and all-season, self-sealing tires. The Blazer comes with a 3/36 warranty, 8/100 on the battery, just as the Jeep does; both come with all wheel drive, too.

The Blazer SS is the priciest Blazer and has a longer range and faster acceleration than the LT or RS versions. The Blazer EV starts at $48,995 in LT form, after incentives, while the Blazer SS starts at $61,995 after incentives and destination. Buyers can get orange, black, blue metallic, or gray metallic at no extra charge; radiant red costs $495 and pearl tricoat costs $995. A dual-level charge cord adds $295.  Inside, buyers get either black/ash or red seats in perforated Evotex material.

Options are a $395 performance package with summer tires and special brake rotors and linings; and two floor/cargo mat packages. Buyers can also get a dual pane power sunroof, though not yet, and roof-rack cross rails ($495), among other things. The Blazers are to arrive at dealerships in March.

The 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S Limited

The Wagoneer S has “over 300 miles” of range, 600 horsepower, 617 lb-ft of torque, and 3.4 seconds 0-60 times, with standard all wheel drive. The only available model right now is the 2024 Wagoneer S Launch Edition, which starts at $68,995 after incentives and destination, a bit more than the Blazer SS, but with more features. However, buyers can only get it in white-and-black without paying $595 for an extra color. It comes with 20-inch wheels and a black interior; getting red seats adds $1,000.

The main Wagoneer S options are the trailer towing group at $995, for now, and a paint protection film for $495. The Wagoneer S includes a selectable terrain system, accent LEDs, and full-time AWD on demand. Made on STLA Large, it uses two Stellantis electric drive modules, one for each axle, with front wheel disconnects to save power. DC fast charging at 400V can go from 20% full to 80% full within 23 minutes. It can also charge on 240VAC for easy house/apartment overnight periods. The Launch Edition boasts ventilated front and rear seats, heated front seats, large amounts of screen space, and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof (optional on the Chevrolet).
