Last week, Ram Trucks boss Tim Kuniskis posted some exciting news on his Linkedin profile – stating that the all-truck label will be introducing 25 product announcements in the next 18 months. The first of those announcements is planned for June 8th and today, we take a look at what Kuniskis and the Ram Trucks brand might have in store for the segment in a few months.
Before getting into what the June 8th debut could entail, here is a quick look at what Tim Kuniskis said on Linkedin:
“Four months ago, I returned to the Ram brand with a clear mission: to build exciting trucks.
Since then, we have been shaping the next evolution of Ram — a bold new chapter that honors the legacy of the brand while redefining its future. There are 25 product announcements planned within the next 18 months, and it all starts on June 8th.
I’m proud to be back, proud be a part of this team, and more determined than ever to show the world…nothing stops Ram.”
Now, if you are reading this article, you are likely aware of the rumors that the Ram Trucks lineup is going to soon feature all sorts of Hemi-powered vehicles. Many people believe that the 5.7-liter and 6.2-liter Hemi engines will soon return to the Ram half-ton lineup, along with the 6.4-liter Hemi, but these are all relatively baseless rumors. I am not saying that the Hemi engines aren’t coming back – I just find that the extent of the return is greatly exaggerated based on the current state of government requirements regarding fuel economy and emission levels.
More importantly, getting V8 engines back into the lineup will require new rounds of emission testing and crash testing, and seeing as how Kuniskis took over just four months ago, I suspect that any “new for 2025/2026 Hemi models” are going to take a bit longer.
With that being said, I suspect that the truck debuting on June 8th will be something that the company already had in the works when Kuniskis returned to the company. Based on comments from the company a while back, we know that the all-electric Ram REV has been pushed back while the Ram 1500 Ramcharger has been moved forward. The Ramcharger combines the electric drivetrain of the Ram REV with a 3.6-liter V6 that constantly charges the EV battery, leading to an electric half-ton truck with no range limitations. This truck has garnered more positive attention than the Ram REV from the Mopar community since the two were introduced, so I believe that we are likely to meet the production form of the Ramcharger on June 8th.
There is also the possibility that the June 8th debut could be a concept vehicle and in that case, the sky is the limit in terms of what Kuniskis might have planned. We know that Ram is working on a mid-sized pickup, so perhaps they will introduce that model in June. Kuniskis and his team could also have a V8 model to show off in concept form, or it could be something entirely new – having nothing to do with the Ram REV, the Ramcharger or the upcoming mid-sized truck.
For now, my safe money is on the debut of the production Ramcharger, but with Tim Kuniskis in charge, the June 8th could be something completely different from anything mentioned above. After all, with 25 debuts planned over an 18 month period, there are likely to be some surprises.
