Ford and GM dominated the recall list this week, though they were not alone.
Ford had incorrect airbag deployments on the 2024-25 Escape, oil leaks from a badly installed engine cup plug on the 2024 Expedition/Navigator and 2024-25 F-150, and missing airbag warning labels on a wide variety of vehicles from 2018 through 2025. In addition, a 2024 Ford Ranger bracket may fail, hit the fuel line, and cause a leak which may cause a fire, bringing back the Ford-on-fire graphic.
GM had rear wheel lockups when transmission valves fail, on the 2020-21 big SUVs—Escalade, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, Sierra, and Yukon, including ESV and XL. In addition, the 2022-23 Express/Savana have the wrong transmission software.
Antilock brake software malfunctions cause a variety of problems on 2018-19 Durangos and Grand Cherokees. The ABS module may incorrectly turn on the brake lights while disabling stability and antilock brake systems; and because it may let drivers start the car and shift out of Park without their feet on the brake, rollaway is possible. Over 200,000 vehicles in the US alone are being recalled under FCA #94B and federal #24V838000. The recall replaces a prior recall, 22V-426, and those who had the previous recall work still need to come in for this one.
2025 Rivians may shut off their exterior lights, which is a problem, and Tesla is bringing back Cybertrucks as inverter failures can cause “stalls.” Volvo’s 2020 Polestar brake pedals may come off the brake boosters. Lucid‘s wiring harnesses may short on the Air. 2014-16 Land Rover upper suspension arms may come off, causing loss of control. The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe’s sunshades may suddenly act. Finally, BMW may have “incorrectly assembled” airbags on the 2025 X3.
