Don’t follow a Mercedes, and other recalls

While Carlos Tavares may have resigned yesterday, according to one Italian rumor taking with him an absolutely massive bonus, that does not change the weekly list of recalls, which includes one Stellantis note (backup cameras not working on 2023-24 Grecals and 2024 GranTurismos) along with some recalls to other cars which may be worrying to those who share the road with them.

Mercedes recalled an absolutely massive list of cars from 2001 through 2011, covering the C, CLK, and E series in various forms, including AMG versions. In all cases, the glass sunroof panel may come off. The good news is that only 33,456 vehicles in the USA are being recalled, so the chances of having a Mercedes sunroof flying into your car via the windshield may be relatively small.

The chances of having an out-of-control 2023-24 Toyota Corolla swerving at you because the steering intermediate shaft has failed are even smaller, with fewer than 9,000 cars affected.

Hyundai recalled various 2021-22 models for the same reason as Maserati—the backup cameras may stop working. Stellantis and others have been issuing numerous recalls for this problem.

Finally, 2024-25 Porsche Macan Electrics have overly bright headlights (not surprising to those who have been in front of them)—a recall which hopefully is enforced since one can see many owners refusing to cooperate—and the 2024 Tesla Model Y front seat recliners were not welded properly.
